This place is listed today as having outdoor seating. Is it still available? If it is, is it covered or heated? How many people can sit there? / August 2, 2023

      A:

I was there a month ago and didn't see any outdoor seating, but i could be wrong. They did have outdoor seating on the sidewalk along Sawtelle during the Pandemic and i sat there for a meal but i didn't like it due to the surrounding area.

Before my visit to Shin Sen Gumi West LA, I had only ever been to the express location in the South Bay. This location right off Sawtelle had plenty of street parking and a good amount of seating inside.

Food: We tried the takowasa (not captured by photo), takoyaki, and hakata ramen.

Takowasa was delicious. I've never had it with green onions but that was a delightful pair.

Takoyaki was dense and cakey, I was a huge fan but my girlfriend was less keen on it. Big chunks of octopus were accompanied by tons of mayo and Takoyaki sauce.

Creamed cheese and shrimp wontons were a massive disappointment. One of mine didn't even have a shrimp inside. The ones that did have shrimp were baby little morsels that were totally lost in the creamed cheese. Don't order these.

Hakata ramen had a deep and delicious pork flavor. I'm getting over a flu right now and this hit the spot perfectly. Noodles were plentiful and perfectly cooked. Char Siu is paper thin but taste good. A bit disappointing it didn't come with an egg. A single egg was $2.50....kind of nuts. Either way, delicious.

The atmosphere is comfortable, modern, but a little loud. Nevertheless, the servers were very attentive and we were able to get quick service.

Highly recommend this ramen stop next time you're near Sawtelle!

Food: i really like this franchise. I think they are consistent. There Japanese fried rice I love so much.

Service: nothing to complain about. They are quick. And quick to respond when you need something.

Ambiance: the vibes is pretty much to same at a lot of places.

The service was poor. The waiter with died blonde hair caused my son with special disabilities and is allergic to wheat cry. My son still really wanted to try this place because his friends at school recommended it to him.

Extremely unhelpful when figuring out what to eat. And the no substitutions even for allergies made it difficult to order.

My family will never go back to this place and I will be telling the other families at my son's special needs school about this terrible experience here.

Came here during the half off sale for ramen (a bowl for $6.25), and really enjoyed it! Ordered the Hakata Ramen with all the normal noodles, soup base, broth, etc, with no add-ons. The wait was short and the inside of the establishment was nice-- service was also great, with the staff enthusiastic and eager to answer questions, explain menu, et

The ramen itself was flavorful but not heavy, which I really appreciate. The broth was so good with a little chili oil and vinegar mixed in. The order comes with 2 chasu pork slices, some green onions, shouga (the red ginger), and noodles. The noodles were chewy without being thick, and the pork was savory but not too fatty. Overall a solid bowl of ramen!

Awesome thing about this ramen joint is that they let you customize noodle firmness, oil and salt level. Al the ramen places that I have been to lately are super salty. Today I really enjoyed my low sodium tasty broth and firm ramen noodles. I must say that they chasu slices could be a lot thicker. These are paper thin! Otherwise service was friendly and fast.

In short, go to Hokkaido Ramen Santouka instead.

It's unfortunate that the ramen here seems to be so lacking. The noodles are very plain and seem like dried straight ones from the store, the soup doesn't seem to have the right flavor, and the pork chashu slices are overcooked while also lacking mixing flavor.

The service is fast, nice, and observant. The atmosphere is cozy.

Service was really cordial and polite! A few regulars came in and the host greeted enthusiastically, love to see that!

Ramen was delicious and the lemon pepper sauce was fire - I asked for a side of mayo. Together, these two dipping sauces are perfect for the juicy karaage. Ramen was also delicious, the extra firm thin noodles are superb.

Street parking was not an issue on a Saturday at 7 PM.
